The Helping Herd
Community Service Club
What:
The Helping Herd is a new WUES community service club focused on kindness, leadership, and hands-on service. Students will participate in service projects with opportunities to lead and support existing WUES community engagement efforts (Day of Service, Souper Bowl of Caring, BIG Love, etc.) and also partner with organizations such as Kids’ Meals, Undies for Everyone, and the Houston Food Bank where students can see their impact in action.
Each student will need to have a parent that is willing to volunteer with them on one project throughout the school year. Students in 2nd-5th Grade are welcome to join The Helping Herd, and we have the capacity for 40 student members. Katie Jones (2nd Grade) is our teacher sponsor – she is an active member of the Junior League of Houston and will have great ideas about organizations to partner with for volunteering.
Please save the date for our Helping Herd Huddle kickoff meeting on Thursday, September 3rd from 3:15-4 PM at WUES. Beyond that, our "meetings" will be our volunteer projects. We can’t wait to grow the WUES tradition of kindness and service in our community with The Helping Herd!
Who: 2nd-5th graders (limited to 40 students)
When: 2-3 times per semester
