Chicken Tenders

What: "Chicken Tenders Club will help students learn about chicken farming, incubation, and responsible animal care while supporting the school’s annual chick-hatching project. Club members (the “Chicken Tenders”) will play a key role in the chick-raising program. They will:
Help distribute chicks, cages, and supplies to participating families each weekday and weekend.


Teach “chicksitting” families how to properly care for the chicks, including safe handling, feeding, cleaning newspaper bedding, and other daily responsibilities.
 

Provide ongoing support and guidance to families throughout the project.

Who: 4th and 5th graders (limited to 20 students)

When: Once a month in the fall and spring for about 30 minutes in the morning (dates TBD). Once the chicks hatch (typically in April and May), a small team of 2–3 club members would assist with morning and afternoon chick care duties on a rotating schedule.
