Ancillary Teachers

ART - Mrs. Wood

This is my 16th year at WUES and second year as the art teacher! I love my new role creating with all 1,190 students AND learning all their names! I attended WUES as a little girl and adore teaching here. My husband, Fred, and I have three girls: Camilla and Francesca are 20, and Delphine is 18. Two are second years at colleges in Virginia, and one is a first year in North Carolina. Wow, does time fly!?!! I love my husband, our girls, our dogs, to create, cook, eat, exercise, and read.

COMPUTER 1 - Mr. Zerber

I have been teaching at West U for 6 years, inlcuding 3rd and 4th grade, but really enjoying my time in the computer lab because I gets to help all of the students! I am married and have and two little girls, Mallory (4) and Blair (2). My oldest will be in Kindergarten here next year! My family enjoys playing with our two dogs, and playing in the pool as much as possible. This summer, my family vacationed in Banff, Canada, canoeing and hiking through the mountains.

COMPUTER 2 - Mr. Cast

This is my 17th year teaching and my 9th year as a technology teacher at WUES. I have a daughter, Alessandra, and we both enjoy hiking, mountain biking, reading, and watching movies. I love all computer technology related topics. I am currently taking an amazing online computer science course at Harvard University. I have a background in media production, business, and technology,and I love putting my experience into opportunities for young minds and watching our students grow in their computer skills.

LIBRARY - Ms. Landry

I have been a librarian at WUES for XX years. My favorite book is “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” My favorite authors are Roald Dahl and Beverly Cleary. I love the colors pink and green. My favorite treats are chocolate chip pecan cookies, pound cake, and iced coffee. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, watching movies, and traveling!

MUSIC - Mr. Perez

I am excited to be back for my 3rd year as the West U music teacher! This is my 9th year teaching elementary music. I previously taught in Aldine ISD and Katy ISD. I graduated from UT Austin with my Music Education Degree and Clarinet Performance Certification. I am currently a graduate student at The University of Houston where I’m studying Educational Administration & Supervision. My hobbies including going to concerts and the movie theater, playing tennis, and visiting museums.

PE 1 - Coach Brown

I have been working in HISD for 22 years, teaching across all age levels, including special education. He has been at WUES for six years. I attended St. Thomas and Mount Carmel high schools in Chicago, and Universities in Indiana and West Virginia. I don’t just teach the PE class, but I’m also in charge of all of the safety patrol kids-approximately 62 students are in safety patrol this year!

PE 2 - Coach Ross

Hello WUES Families! My name is Amanda Ross, and I am one of the PE teachers on campus. In class I strive to teach to the whole child and inspire students to become little athletes. We have class activities based on cardio fitness, strength exercises, and flexibility. We perform fitness challenges, yoga skills, and more! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and
our 9-month-old baby boy, Braxton.

THEATRE - Ms. Cobb

I have been teaching theatre at WUES for XX years. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and animals, traveling, reading. and writing. My favorite flower is an orchid. My favorite quote is from B.B. King-”The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.”
