Become a West University Elementary Volunteer
Volunteers are crucial to the continued success of WUES. Whether volunteering with a class party, chaperoning a field trip or helping with fundraising events, you are important and needed!
To ensure the safety of all our children, HISD requires an approval procedure for all volunteers interacting with students. It is a two-step process. Please complete the process as soon as possible so that you will be approved when you are needed in your child's class.
All parents approved last year via the process listed below have "rolled over" as approved this year. Therefore, no action is needed for 2006-2007 approved parents.
Steps for VIPS Approval
First -- Go to http://www.houstonisd.org
- Double Click VIPS Login on the right hand side of the page under Quicklinks.
- Click "I have never used this program" if you are new to the website.
- Register all your information.
- Select your preferences and West University ES as the school of choice. Then click Save.
Second --Take you driver's license to the front office and ask one of the office staff to make a copy for VIPS per the HISD policy.
NOTE: When steps 1 and 2 are complete, a criminal background check will be performed. The process can take several weeks. Please do not delay.
